Christmas In Our Homes
The festive spirit started in Canford Manor with a lovely Christmas fayre including the great Xmas bake off where residents made hot chocolate packets with reindeer antlers, marshmallows, and lots of sweets as well as staff and relatives contributing their festive bakes! The fayre raised a massive £400 for the resident’s fund which they can choose what they spend it on! Residents enjoyed their fabulous advent calendar made by a staff member, and many Christmassy musicians including Tesoro, a singing duo, and David Pepper’s Xmas party! Other festivities included puppy cuddles, a performance from a ukulele band, mince pie making and even a visit from Mr & Mrs Claus!
With no less than 10 trees for the residents to enjoy, Christmas at Tudor Lodge started! Kicking off celebrations was Fred the saxophonist, shortly followed by Silly Scott and his Magic and comedy show! The Christmas party had members of Victory squadron from HMS Collingwood and veterans all singing along to Christmas carols. Another show by doorstep entertainments in Christmas fancy dress, and a visit from ‘The Singing Stars’ from St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School for more lovely carols.
From months in the making, the talented staff choreographed and performed their very own ‘Alice in Wonderland’ panto. They put in so much time and effort into rehearsals, costumes and making props, we even had one of our residents star in the show! The dining room was converted into a theatre and the panto was opened with a traditional Indian dance, also there was an amazing solo singing performance. The whole show and dancing from each member of the panto was great, the residents absolutely loved it!
Festivities started with lots of festive treats and parties. On Christmas Eve there was sweets & treats trollies, and Christmas morning started with a buck’s fizz breakfast then a fantastic Christmas day menu. There were gifts for every resident from the directors and lovely family visits followed by some tipples and the Kings speech. We thank all our amazing staff for everything they do to make our residents have the best Christmas and we can’t wait to see what fun 2024 brings us!
